Land tax is assessed on your total land value in each state, so the same property can attract tax in one state and not another. Thresholds are indexed or frozen differently by each state — check the individual pages.
What is land tax?
An annual state tax on the total taxable value of land you own, excluding your principal place of residence. It is not a federal tax, and it is not council rates — you can pay both on the same property.
Three things people get wrong: it applies to your combined holdings (not per property); the threshold applies once to that total; and every state sets its own thresholds and rates.
